Heat Pump Features That Could Improve the Comfort of Your Corpus Christi Home

December 9, 2014 | Blog

If you’re in the market for a new HVAC system, consider upgrading to a heat pump to keep your home comfortable during theย winter and summer, while loweringย energy costs. Recent technological improvements in these appliances make them even more desirable in our mild climate.

Here are some of our top heat pump feature picks:

Scroll compressors. A scroll compressor differs from the standard piston compressor, as itย uses fewer internal parts, runs more efficiently andย produces 10 to 15 degree warmer air than the piston compressor. This compressor will raise your heat pump’s heating season performance factor (HSPF), which means it’ll likelyย lastย longer than other compressors.

Variable-speed motors. Located in the air handler, variable-speed motors, also called electronically commutated motors (ECMs)ย run heat pumps at different speeds, depending on the amount of heating or cooling required. The advantages of these motors are many, including reduced noise, lower energy consumption, better indoor air qualityย and more comfort throughout your home. ย Duringย the winter, your indoorย air won’t feel cold when the system first starts up.

Two-speed compressors. A dual-speed compressor adjusts the compressor speed based on the amount of air conditioning needed indoors. These compressorsย save energy and tend to last longer, since theyย only runย at top speed during exceptionally coldย weather.
